Doug Pruden is a portrait and travel photographer who lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Doug grew up in Calgary, graduating from St. Francis High School in 1976. In 1980, Doug graduated with a BSc in Geophysics from the University of Calgary.
In the late 1970′s and early 1980′s, Doug was an avid SLR photographer (film, obviously) using a manual Fujicon camera with a wide angle, 50mm and telephoto lens set. He dropped serious photography shortly after the birth of his second child as the inconvenience and frustration of chasing kids with an SLR forced the convenience of point and shoot cameras into the picture for family chronicling. Doug always liked dabbling in darkroom work, so when digital photography came into its own, he began to take notice of photography again. A D40x was acquired a few years ago, followed recently by a Nikon D300. Running Aperture on a MacBook Pro has made the digital darkroom a favorite place for Doug to spend the cold winter evenings in Calgary. With a renewed passion for an old friend, Doug has started an online presence through his PhotoShelter based portfolio. Doug’s photography can be found here.
In the summer time (or any time there is a temperature above 8 degrees C and no snow) Doug can be found on the local golf course working on getting his handicap below a 7.
Doug is happily married to the same wonderful woman for 28 years and they have 4 children and one granddaughter who delight them to no end.
